Assessing funding opportunities

Business on the frontlines in St. Bakhitas

Saint Bakhita’s Vocational Training Center is an all-girls school that provides educational opportunities to learners from rural villages in Northern Uganda. The school is a formal partner of the Powerful Means Initiative, which focuses on developing socially minded leaders through a transformative model for experiential learning that helps students recognize their purpose and use their time and talents in service to others.

This semester's partnership with Frontlines offers an opportunity to focus on supporting SBVTC to improve the economic prosperity of the Agago District.

This engagement could have multiple pathways based on the intent and outcome, so to complement the work already in progress for SBVTC with undergraduate students in the Impact Consulting minor, we plan on an engagement that is focused on exploring and assessing funding opportunities, pipelines and resources that could be leveraged by both SBVTC and applied/implemented for other institutions in the Agago District. This model could help identify possible benefaction, multi-national corporation partnerships, and/or wealth transfer from wealthier nations to Uganda and provide funding sources that are sustainable and committed for long term investment in the District.
